Wave Rider
Open Edition - Australasian gannets are expert gliders, often using the updraft from waves, like this one as it heads back to the colony at Muriwai. It took the right conditions and a lot of patience for everything to fall into place as I knew I wanted to photograph the gannet flying straight towards me, being followed by a large breaking wave, and slightly backlit by the low angle of the evening sun.
